Let’s Go Seniors! Part 2 {Havelock, NC Senior Photographer}

If you follow my blog at all you can probably tell what time of year it is. It is senior season! Yup- lots of seniors, or soon to be seniors, have been on the blog lately. And, today is not different. I have another rising senior to introduce you to today. This is Dani, one of my gorgeous Havelock High School Senior Spokesmodels. She is best friends with Chelsea, who was featured on the blog yesterday.  I think this is a gorgeous close up of Dani.

Dani is also a varsity cheerleader and a member of an All Star Cheer team. In fact, both she and Chelsea are getting ready to go to Florida for a huge cheer competition.( Good luck girls!) And this next image is a great example to show how editing and toning a photo can give it a whole new look and feel.  That image above was processed in a very straight forward way. With her serious look, I wanted to keep it serious looking.  For this image below, it seemed more fun and playful.  I wanted to highlight Dani and add some light.  So, after some basic processing I used a texture, from one of my favorite texture creators , on top of the image to warm it up and draw your focus to Dani. Can you see the difference in the two images?  Both are beautiful, but they each have their own feel to them.

Dani, like Chelsea, keeps a crazy schedule, with trips back and forth to Raleigh for cheer practice in between all the normal stuff of being a teenager.  She  and Chelsea both seriously impressed me with how they do it all.  And I’ll say it again, their parents are amazing to be able to guide their girls and help them pursue their dreams.  Both Dani and Chelsea are aiming to cheer at the college level and with the determination and dedication that they demonstrate, I don’t doubt at all that they will!

If you are a new visitor to my blog then you may not know that I am a sucker for a close up.  If you were to come into my home you would see a whole hallway filled with large canvas close ups of my own kids.  There is just something about capturing a person’s eyes, looking straight into the camera, that I love.  This close up of Dani is another of my favorites.  I had a hard time picking whether I liked it in black and white or in color better, so I am going to let you help me decide.  Here are both versions.  What do you think?

And finally, one more just for fun! Seems I love this image too:-)

Thanks Dani for letting me capture some images for you. I had a great time getting to know you more. And, if you’ve made it all the way to the end of this post will you do us a favor? Please leave a comment down there in the comment section letting us know if you are a fan of the black and white close up or the color one. Pretty soon Dani will have to pick some of her favorites. Give her a little help and send her your pick!

Let’s Go Seniors! { Havelock, NC Senior Photographer}

I’d like to introduce you to another of my beautiful senior spokesmodels. This is Chelsea, a soon to be senior at Havelock High School.

Gorgeous girl, huh? She is not only beautiful, but she is also an athlete. Chelsea is a varsity cheerleader but she doesn’t stop there. She also cheers for a World’s Division Cheer Team out of Raleigh. Between school and traveling back and forth to practices, I am not sure how she keeps it all together. And, because I am a parent, I am in awe of her parents for helping her keep it all together.

Chelsea’s dedication to cheerleading is very evident after talking to her for a bit.  I must say I was probably a bit irritating as I asked question after question about the cheering, practices and schedules she has to keep.  Perhaps most impressive to this way-older- than- a -high -schooler woman, is what incredible shape she is in.  After observing how my muscles look nothing like hers, I asked if she lifted weights a lot.  She and her friend, Dani ( who will be on the blog shortly), quietly responded, “Not too much- just cheerleaders.”  :-0  So, I guess that explains why my biceps and triceps aren’t nearly as nice as theirs!  I don’t lift nearly enough cheerleaders.:-)

I could go on and on about what a beautiful person Chelsea is but I think I will just hush up and let her images do the talking for her.

Thanks Chelsea for letting me capture some images of you! In just a bit Chelsea will have to select some of her favorite images from her session. Why don’t you help a girl out, and leave her a comment here letting her know which image from this post is YOUR favorite. To comment just click the add a comment link down there and give Chelsea a shout out. I think it always helps to get feedback from other people.:-)

Senior Class { Havelock High School, Senior Photographer}

Time to introduce you to another fabulous senior spokesmodel! Meet Meghan- newly elected student body president of Havelock High School. I tell you, my spokesmodels are truly fantastic young people. Their accomplishments are a mile long and to top it all off they all have fabulous spirits. Meghan is no different and we had a great time on her senior portrait shoot. So, let’s show you some images!

While wandering around we found these cool bars that I had never seen before. Being up for anything, Meghan hopped right in there. I think the bars served as a unique background.

To help inspire the young men and women I work with I like to show them a few sample poses.  Based on what they like we set out to find similar locations and then try to recreate the poses they were drawn too.  Meghan liked a pose with the subject sitting on a curb and it just so happened we found this great curb where I didn’t have to stand in the middle of the road to capture the shot.  Perfect!

While I challenged Meghan and Valerie to find a cool set of stairs I have a good, old fall back that I love.  The black rails and stairs make for some nice leading lines.

And, the black stairs make Meghan pop right off the background. Beautiful!

So there you have a little peek at Meghan’s fun session. Want a senior session of your own? Head on over to my Facebook page and try to guess my favorite number. Simply find the post describing the guessing game and post any number between 1 and 100 ( just don’t pick one someone else has). Sunday night I’ll see who was the closest and that person will get $50 off their senior session fee. Easy, peasy!

Another Beautiful Spokesmodel! { Havelock High School, Senior Photographer}

Senior portrait season is in full swing and I am loving it!  My spokesmodels from last year helped me to find some of the most awesome rising seniors and each week I get to meet one or two more.  This lovely senior spent an afternoon with me and her best friend just a short while ago and I bet she is bursting at the seams to see a few more images.  So, without further ado, I introduce you to the lovely Valerie!

This first image was inspired by one of last year’s senior spokesmodel images.  Wanting something a little different, but similar, we found ourselves another outdoor eating location.  This one belongs to MJs Raw Bar & Grille, a great local restaurant. I just love it! ( Both the picture and the restaurant!)

In addition to a different outdoor eating location we also found this nice brick wall.  When I do senior sessions downtown I turn it into sort of a scavenger hunt.  My girls and guys have several things they are on the lookout for and here is a great, nicely colored wall we found.  Makes a nice backdrop doesn’t it?

Another thing the girls were on the lookout for was a set of stairs.  These stairs were spotted and although they were completely different than what I had in mind, they were absolutely perfect!  I love scouting for locations with clients as they often make me look at things that I might dismiss at first.  This location was an excellent find!

And my favorite find of all was this cool little arched door that we found.  Valerie opened up the door, went in the alley that it opened up to and hello!  Beautiful image!

This was an awesome session! Thanks for working with me Valerie! Your whole gallery is to follow shortly. And, if you want your own senior portrait session, like Valerie, head over to my Facebook page for a chance to get $50 off your session! Find the post asking for a number between 1 and 100. Leave a comment listing your choice of number and you just might be announced as the winner on Sunday night!

Senior Spokesmodel, Take Two! { Havelock High School Senior Photographer}

In our neck of the woods spring break has come… and gone.:-(My lovely rep. featured here, Caitlyn, was enjoying a nice time away and I told her that I would hold her blog post until she returned. That worked out well for me too, as I also enjoyed a bit of time away. School has started back up and so has the hustle and bustle of life. And although it is sad that the carefree days of spring break are over, I am very excited to share this young woman’s images with you!

Here’s a first peek at this beautiful senior.  Effortless beauty I’d say!  While this image is really pretty, I think I like the next one better.  But, then again, I am a sucker for a close up!

So, here is a close up this senior beauty. How cute is she?

While I love straight forward portraits I also have a thing for more artistic, dramatic images. What do you notice first about this image?

Did you say her eyes? There is something about her eyes in that image that I love!

And last, but not least, is a totally fun image! A little glitter confetti, some nice green grass and a fun-loving senior gets you this type of lovely portrait!

Thanks Caitlyn for allowing me to capture a few fun memories for you! And, if you would like to help Caitlyn pick some of her favorites, hop on over to my Facebook album and leave Caitlyn some comments on her images!
