About

I still remember my first camera- a cool little Kodak that used that funky c-110 cartridge film.  My parents probably didn’t know the monster that they were helping to create back then when they gave me that little camera as a gift.  Goodness knows how much they spent supplying me with film and paying to develop it.  I have a lot of those old “magnetic” photo albums though that could probably help us guess that it was A LOT of money.

My interest in photography was really enhanced in middle school when I took a photography class.  I learned all about f-stops, shutter speeds and film developing (yes, I did say film!)  From then on I took cameras with me anytime I thought I had something to document.  Even throughout college I was the one that acted as historian.  There is just something about documenting my life and the lives of my friends that made me happy.

After college,  photography took a back seat to my career as an elementary school teacher. I spent my days working with kids and my nights planning new and exciting things for them to do.  Teaching provided me with a creative outlet doing something that I really loved- working with kids.  When my own kids came along ( there are four of them now!) I decided to leave the classroom.

It was shortly after my oldest child was born that my husband bought me a D-SLR.  The camera had more features and functions then I knew what to do with.  I figured out the basics though and began filling up my hard drive with pictures of my family.  Missing the creative outlet that teaching had once provided, I took up scrapbooking and then digital scrapbooking.  I read all that I could and took online classes to learn how to use photo editing software.  One thing led to another and I began taking photography classes to hone my skills.

And that leads me to today.  Now, I am stepping out my box and following my love of children and photography.  Jenn Reno Photography is about capturing your memories today, so that your yesterdays will never be too far away. My style is simple and classic and I strive to capture the spirit of my subjects.  I believe in having fun while doing photo shoots and I know that I must make children and their families comfortable in order to capture who they really are.  I invite you to follow me on this journey!
